Cupcakery

Inspired by the return of one of my favorite bloggers, Lacy, of the Electric Elmo Newsfeed, I dedicate this post to her, and one of the things that she loves most:

Cupcakes!

Lacy was the one that first introduced me to the phenomenon that is cupcake shops.
Lulu's is still my favorite cupcakery.

Enjoying cupcakes with two of my gals and 45 extra pounds - June 2009

Lulu's is currently located only in the memories of those who have frequented the shop. It has been turned into a gluten-free bakery that I've never bothered to learn the name of.

When Lulu's closed, I was left without a cupcake shop. As evidenced by my extra... ahem... lovableness... that wasn't perhaps such a bad thing. Cake, like anything, can be fit into any lifestyle, and mine will always include a cupcake.

Trendy as they are, cupcake shops make me happy. I've been on the search since for a new one.

Cupcakeries need some basic elements:
  • An adorable and stylish store
  • Good frosting - let's be honest, anyone can make decent cake. The secret to a great cupcake is great frosting!
  • A touch of wit - along with the cupcakes, Lulu's sold snarky Archie McPhee merchandise, like the Marie Antoinette Action-Figure, with head launching action!
I've been to Sprinkles, Let Them Eat Cake (no thematically funny toys sold here = a missed opportunity), and HoneyMoon Sweets. All are good. None have become my new shop though.

A new shop has come to town. Mind Over Batter.

It looks like we may have a winner!

Go check it out you all. And let me know if there is another place that I need to try. I'm always ready to try out a new cupcake!
